Reshna Shrestha

Education: BSc. Physics, Institute of Science and Technology, Tribhuvan Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University, Nepal (2021)
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Physics at UB. My research interests lie in the experimental condensed matter physics and I am working on chiral semiconductors for chiroptical, optoelectronic and opto-spintronics applications. My research focuses on thin film and device fabrication, poly-crystal and single-crystal growth, along with optical characterization techniques, such as particularly circular dichroism spectroscopy, optical absorption spectroscopy and linear dichroism spectroscopy to understand the origin and role of chirality in light–matter interactions. I am also interested in the rich physics behind circular photogalvanic effects in chiral non-centrosymmetric systems. Beyond the lab, I enjoy hiking, traveling, and exploring different cuisines.

Hi my name is Richard Lagutaine (I go by Rixi), I am an undergraduate student at the University of Buffalo, I am currently majoring in Math and Physics and am interested in pursuing a PhD in condensed matter physics once I graduate. I am still finding my specific research interests, but I am currently working on characterizing the optical properties of chiral perovskite. In my free time I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, hiking, camping, and rock climbing.
